This data takes the regional grassland as the object to study the current situation of grassland ecology. Based on the remote sensing images of different scales such as TM and MSS satellite images in the mid-1980s and early 1990s, as well as various electronic geographic data files accumulated by the Research Institute, the ecological background database of Xinjiang is constructed, which is rich and intuitively reflecting the basic natural resources of 1:1 million grassland in Xinjiang. The data covers the whole region of Xinjiang, and is obtained by conic projection of Lambert and other areas.

From the left, the first and second digits represent the first grassland type, the third and fourth digits represent the grassland type subclass, the fifth and sixth digits represent the grassland type group quality, the English letters representing the grassland type group in the original spot annotation are expressed by the Arabic numerals in corresponding order, that is, a, B, C, D, e,... Are expressed by the corresponding 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,..., and the seventh and Eighth digits represent the grassland type quality The ninth, tenth and eleventh are grassland type. This data only includes the first level grassland.
